Are you taking a break from applying for remote jobs this summer?
Think twice before throwing in the towel and deciding to wait until fall.
According to FlexJobs, a remote and flexible job board, the idea of holding off until the fall when hiring is busiest due to perceived decreased opportunities is a myth.
While most job-seekers are thinking exactly the same thing—to wait until after summer before resuming their job application efforts—you can take advantage of this period of reduced competition and make your application stand out, especially since it seems almost everyone is seeking remote jobs (making the market saturated).
Additionally, not only will you be well-positioned for the remote jobs you're looking for before hiring officially picks up again in the fall, but you may find that companies have hiring budgets that need to be used by the end of their fiscal year, or they are preparing for third and fourth quarter projects. In this case, they will be more eager to fill these remote positions in the summer.
Although, as more employers enforce RTO mandates, it may appear that the age of fully remote jobs is behind us, there is thankfully a significant number of companies who are still maintaining their stance on remaining fully remote, or at least being open to hiring flexibly, including fully remote jobs.
In its latest report of the companies currently hiring for flexible and fully remote jobs, FlexJobs analyzed over 60,000 employers within its database and drew up a list of the top 75. Furthermore, there are other companies not featured in this list who have been remote-first, and intend to continue operating that way.
