1. Tele-Neurology Physician

Not all physician roles require in-hospital attendance. If you decided to pivot in your medical career and become a tele-neurology physician, you would diagnose and develop treatment plans, and prescribe medications for neurological conditions remotely, conducting virtual consultations with patients.

For example, some conditions you might assess would be strokes, epilepsy, or Parkinson's disease. This type of role ensures that not only are you able to work comfortably from home, but you are able to provide accessible and convenient healthcare services to all patients, irrespective of their location.

The core qualification requirements of this role include:

  • Medical degree (for example, MD)
  • Completion of neurology residency program
  • Obtaining a licence to practice medicine
  • Completion of specialized neurology studies

Salary range: $340,000 to $440,000

2. Online Fitness Coach

As an online fitness coach, your role may vary depending on the employer's specific needs. Some are looking for personal trainers to design programs for their clients online, while others are seeking specialized trainers with a deep understanding of wellbeing and nutrition, to provide consultations to clients.

To be an interior designer, you will usually need a degree in interior design or a related field, and some states will require you to have a licence.

4. Clinical Exercise Physiologist

This is yet another fascinating example of a medical role that can be performed remotely. A clinical exercise physiologist's job involves providing education and support to enable patients to prevent, treat, and manage their chronic health conditions through physical activity. This support may be provided through developing and prescribing a custom exercise plan, or lifestyle program.

According to the American College of Sports Medicine, to be eligible for this role, you will need to take and pass their exam. Taken from their guidelines, they state that prior to passing their exam, you would need either: "A master's degree in clinical exercise physiology or equivalent and 600 hours of hands-on clinical experience, or a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, exercise physiology, or equivalent and 1,200 hours of hands-on clinical experience."

5. Private Investigator

As a private (undercover) investigator, you would be responsible for using specialized software and technology for surveillance and reporting on behalf of clients. Your role would involve providing accurate and actionable information as far as possible, via reports, while maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to regulatory and ethical standards.

To be a private investigator, you would usually need undertake a private investigator course and you will also need to obtain a state licence. A degree is not a requirement, although it may help to have your associate or bachelor's degree.
